To Right What Is Wrong

It’s been two weeks since the flaw in the students’ time table cause a major havoc in the General Office of the Creative Industry Faculty (FCI), students are now settled down in their classes and the general office is back to its peaceful state. However, is the matter truly over when every student gets to their classes?

We see from the issue is that the students have been a complacent and easily-satisfied bunch. It is true that most if not all of the students were frustrated when facing the impacts of the timetable failure, but everyone seems to be satisfied when their timetable settled-down. None took the effort to find out what happened behind the general office counter. When approached, SRC only replied with a short “We are working on it” however, when our reporter interviewed the Dean, she claimed that none of the SRC members visited her office in the entire week one.

Be it the communication with the students or within the University, it is evident that FCI failed both in this incident. Since the first day of the semester, the timetable had been unstable and not a single notice was posted up. Moreover, lecturers and tutors were also not informed that their timetable has changed causing delays or even cancelation of classes. If communication within the faculty could also fail, we could expect the same when other department of the University is involved in the construction of the student’s timetable.

The University should improve their system and communication to prevent such problems in the future. However, the students should also stop being the complacent bunch; we should all know and stand up to our rights.  How are we, university students different from a blinded cattle if we do not have the ability to right what is wrong.
