The learning and teaching of Science and Mathematics in English or Bahasa Malayu is most concern issue by parents. The good news was announced on the cover page was the government will allow the students learning under PPSMI to continue learning Science and Mathematics in English.
The similarity of The Star newspaper, The Sun online news and 8TV Chinese News started report with the news, the new decision that made by Government, and the report followed by interview Deputy Prime Minister, and seeking for different people’s opinions who related to this issue. These three media have also included the research statistics and facts to support their news actuality.
The uses of similar emotional impact which makes audiences to pay attention on government’s stand in their news coverage. The three media gives their audiences to feel clear of this policy where all decision are being proved, confirmed and agreed by cabinet to abolish the PPSMI is for the benefit of students.
Differences media have their own style in arranging the information. Newspaper provides more details news info, mostly in the interview part means that the opinion from the people related. Television news was reporting only the important point. Firstly introduce the issue, then giving information by the interviewees and also related footages being inserted to attract audience attention. Online news is quite similar to newspaper but the differences are the content of the reporting not so detail compare to newspaper. Online News is more interesting because it provides links for readers to understand more on the certain news.
In conclusion, the three media are reporting on the same issue but the reporting ways are much more different from each other. This is because it all has different target potential target readers or audiences.
