Change but No Improvement

Observe the standard of our English today and you will be wondering what happened to all the promises of those previous programmes, this is an ongoing issue that has yet to shimmer down.
The Ministry of Education is adamant in not offering options for PPSMI (the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English). A Facebook page called, “1M Malaysians Say YES to PPSMI as an OPTION has been recently created to gather the public in support of PPSMI.
One should not feel threatened that Bahasa Malaysia will be overlooked, as it is our National language and is widely applied in our daily lives. As for English, It is not applied frequently especially in rural areas where the usage of mother tongue is more dominant.
Supporters of PPSMI such as from the Parent Action Group for Education Malaysia (PAGE) a registered National Society come from all strata of society, regardless of their social class standing and knowledge of English, Going back to Bahasa Malaysia is discouraging the growth of those who want to learn English but has not been given much privilege to do so. Giving them an option to choose will be the first step to accepting improvement
The change of language from BM to English and back to BM again is taking the issue of improvement nowhere. At the end of the day what we want is changes with improvements and not mere changes that cause disrupt confusion.
The Ministry of Education should reconsider their decision and put things into a long term perspective rather than be fickle minded on the issue and prolong the same cycle.
