One last effort to save the NBA season

The chosen online articles are entitled “Sides to continue talks Thursday after 12-hour session” from NBA news and an article entitled “No Deal Reached In NBA Lockout Negotiations To Continue Thursday At Noon” by Lateef Mungin from CNN. Both the news are highlighting on the latest development in the NBA Lockout.

The differences are relatively noticeable; the article covered by Lateef Mungin was very short and straightforward while the article from NBA News emphasized on every single detail, especially in numerical representations. The article by Lateef Mungin focused on just one individual involved, which is the NBA Commissioner and hence it is one sided. In that particular article, he made a simple recap of the issue at hand, informing the reader on what happened in the past and how it led to the current situation. The approach was simple and comprehensive; it’s especially effective for speed reading.

On the other hand, the article published by NBA News was taken to a different height by the expansion of perspectives through different individuals in the association. The NBA News gathered opinions from crucial individuals like the NBA Commissioner, NBPA President Derek Fisher as well as NBPA Executive Director Billy Hunter. Besides that, it also goes in depth by weighing out the possibilities of saving or losing the entire season. In additional, it also revealed the terms behind the deal between owners and players.

In a nutshell, it can be concluded that the major comparison will be the length and depths of the news. The article by Lateef Mungin was written in such a way that it’s summarized so that reader can read and understand quickly. On the contrary, the article published by NBA News had a complete coverage of the situation as it described the story from every possible angle.

  1. Dear all,

One of the reasons why NBA news made such a comprehensive and detailed report, is because it is THE official media for NBA. Interesting choice of comparison.

    Cheers,
    Bryan
