The Star Online has the headline that labels the event as a “Platform for transsexuals” while The Sun addresses the issue without bias, by stating that Datuk Ambiga is furious at TV reports. Also, TV3, which was the TV station involved in the issue was never mentioned in the report on The Star Online but it was clearly stated on the report in The Sun.
One of the similarities that are in both reports is that “free sex festival” was mentioned clearly. It is considered the main highlight in the issue. Also, the main person involved in the issue was clearly mentioned. Public figure like Datuk Ambiga, Datuk Paduka Marina Mahathir, Irene Fernandez and also Pang Khee Teik were all clearly highlighted to be involved in the issue.
We believe that both the reports have its differences because they come from 2 different media organization. The Sun has no ties with any political body while The Star is tied to Malaysian Chinese Association which ultimately requires them to protect TV3, which belongs to the other party in the political coalition, Barisan Nasional. As for the similarities, both news are reporting on the same topic, therefore the facts have got to be the same.
