Come experience a truly oriental night being serenaded by the whimsical sound of traditional Chinese musical instrument that is sure to leave you wanting more. The passionate youth from the Chinese Orchestra Society (COS) of University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) will be having their concert on the 29 October 2011, at 8pm in the Heritage Hall (Block A) of UTAR Kampar Campus. The concert will serves as a platform for the members of the COS to present their growth in the forgotten art of Chinese Orchestra.
The concert will be conducted by Ryan Choon, the leader of the COS, and also Set Yu Jian. The concert will have 45 members of the COS performing. Audience can anticipate the most memorable TV drama theme songs and also some nostalgic folk songs that will definitely bring back the memory of our childhood. They will also be paying tribute to the famous 12 Girls band by playing some of their greatest hits.
Highlight of the night will be the solo Chinese trumpet performance by Lee Yeen Shing who is an experienced traditional Chinese musical instrument teacher. Besides that, there will be a breath-taking east meet west performance where you will get to see the beautiful combination of piano and Gu Zheng. This performance will be performed by Liew Zhian Ming, a Gu Zheng player of over 7 years, and also a lecturer, Foong Hoong Cheng.
