Forum was running. All participants were concentrating on the speech.
Young Filmmaker Forum, an event which was organized by SEMESTA and FINAS, is a platform for movie sharing session which aims to enable the young generation of film makers to produce good films by utilizing their creativity.
The festival was held last Thursday at Studio Sound Stage Finas, Kompleks Studio Merdeka, Hulu Klang. This event has successfully attracted more than 500 participants including local and private university students, such as UTAR, USM, Stamford College, Lim Kok Wing University, and etc.
Many famous local directors were welcomed to share their experiences in producing film. In addition, the organizers have also invited the person in charge of local TV station to explain on the process of how a TV Station operates. It has enabled the participants to have a better understanding on the particular field.
During the sharing session, a famous local film director, Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba also encouraged students to not follow blindly with the needs of market in the film industry but have urged them to produce films that exhibit art. Furthermore, students were also inspired to produce meaningful films in the future, and not make money-making their main goal.
A student from UTAR who was also one of the attendees commented that he had gain a lot of knowledge that could not be found in text book alone and also had a better understanding on the process of how TV stations operate.
Dr Mahadi J Murat, SEMESTA’s President expressed he hopes that through the Young Filmmaker Forum, the upcoming programs will be more organized, forward-loooking and is in accordance with the future goals that are aimed to be achieved.
